San Francisco, January 18, 2012. Two works by sculptor Jerry Harris have been selected for inclusion in The David C. Driskell Center's permanent collection. The two are, "Miles Davis Diggin' Charlie 'Bird' Parker," and "Out of Africa," an ebony wall sculpture by Mr. Harris. The David C. Driskell Center, at the University of Maryland, College Park holds one of the largest collections of African American art in the world.
These two works will also be part of a traveling show with The American Jazz Museum, Kansas City, Mo., 2013. He joins such luminaries as Romare Bearden, Jacob Lawrence, and Sam Gilliam, amongst many other Fine Artists. Both works can be seen on this website sidebar. No. 5 and No. 44.
